Review: Simple Micellar Water

Simple Cleansing Micellar Water

According to elle.com, Micellar Water has been a French beauty staple for years. French women, who are considered by some the gurus of all things beauty, have been using this product as an all-in-one cleanser and hydrator. And unlike a pre-soaked makeup removing towel, this formula is designed to remove dirt and makeup without rinsing or smearing the grime all over your face.

Sounds cool right?

I was sold. So, I went to my local Walmart and bought Simple’s Micellar Water, which cost me $5.00. Simple brand products are widely available at Target, Walmart, and Ulta. Simple is a brand that uses no dyes, artificial perfumes, or harsh chemicals. I use their daily moisturizer, which doesn’t clog my pores and has never negatively affected my sensitive skin. (I also love their Revitalizing Eye Roll-On which brightens up my dark circles.)

On my first night using their Micellar Water, I was impressed with how soft and hydrated my skin felt. It didn’t remove all of my mascara, but it did do a good job of getting Supergoop!’s CC Cream off my face.

The next morning, however, I noticed a barely there pimple on my cheek. I didn’t think anything of it. Over the course of the week, I did notice mini red bumps pop up near my T-Zone on my face. I attribute this to the Micellar Water. Although the pimples went away within a day or two, this is a kind of disappointing side effect.

Would I say it’s still worth it? Sure. Just make sure to keep some tea tree oil, or Yes To Tomatoes Acne Spot Roller, nearby.
