Square Hue Rio Collection Review

I love subscription box services. Conscious Box? Tried it – didn’t like it. Birchbox? Faithful subscriber for over a year. Graze Box? Super fan, plus it’s a lifesaver for office snack cravings. Then I discovered Square Hue. Square Hue is a subscription box service dedicated solely to nailpolish. You get three colors each month, and they’re all Big 5 free, according to an email correspondence with an employee there. It costs $19.95, which is reasonable considering most Big 5 polishes run at least $9 a bottle.

Square Hue Rio Collection: three nail polishes (green, yellow, and blue) in a small, white box

I received my first box a week ago and it was the Rio Collection. It contained three .5 oz polish bottles. The first was a forest green shimmer called Leblon, the second was a micro glitter yellow (which reminded me of Zoya’s Solange) called Ipanema, and the third was an ocean blue glitter polish called Copacabana.

I tried the latter first because it looked the prettiest to me. It kind of reminds me of a mermaid. The formula was surprisingly great. It had the same thick consistency that Zoya or O.P.I has. Because it’s a glitter polish, I had to do four coats to get it to the opaque darkness I desired.

I haven’t seen any chipping yet, which is good because it’s only been a couple of days. My mom even said she liked the Copacabana color the most. Also, the bottles are square and recall Pantone’s design.

Cheers, Steph

Thank you! I randomly found Square Hue through Instagram. Another plus is that they’re super engaging with customers. They responded to my email quickly and like or retweet things I tag them in.
